Pliva Lake

The Pliva Lakes are located between the municipality of Jezero in the Republic of Srpska and the municipality of Jajce in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. They are situated in the Pliva River valley and consist of two connected bodies of water — the Small and Large Lake.

The Large Lake begins where the Pliva River ends its course, downstream from the municipality of Jezero, and stretches to the settlement of Zaskoplje. It is approximately 3.3 kilometers long and between 400 and 700 meters wide, with a maximum depth of around 36 meters. The lake is known for hosting kayaking, canoeing, and rowing competitions, including the World and European Championships in kayaking held there in 1963.

The Small Lake starts in the settlement of Zaskoplje, measuring between 950 and 1,000 meters in length and between 200 and 400 meters in width, with a maximum depth of about 25 meters.

Both lakes are rich in various fish species, including trout, tench, and carp, making them a popular spot for fishing and recreation.
